Party Time!

We like to party

After a winter seasons work Mark and I were ready for some time off to play outside and see some friends.

I spent another winter as a ski instructor in Leadville, while Mark helped his mom and niece move into a new house, buy a new van and adjust to some other changes in their household. Once his mom was moved and her old house sold, Mark was able to start focusing on himself more. With our work wrapped up, we marked our calendars for “Nic and Mark Party Time,” and took two weeks to have fun together before Mark went back to work full time.

Like any good party, we started at the dentist… We had to pick some stuff up at Mark’s mom’s house before we started our little adventure, so we both scheduled dentist appointments in Denver at that time. We were able to squeeze in a quick ski off of Mt Guyot before we got to Denver, then we spent an evening with Kelly (Mark’s mom) and Cosmo (Mark’s niece), a few hours at the dentist, and then finally headed down south towards Alamosa.

With Mark’s van packed, we drove down to Alamosa where we spent the night with our close friends Brian and Katie. From there we headed down to Taos to kayak with another friend for two days, then to Moab for two days to ski in the La Sals (where we got to meet up with Brian again– he was there mountain biking). We drove back to Colorado through Durango and stayed the night with Oona, waking up early the next day to ski an unexpected powder day in the Silverton area. Finally, we set our sites back on Leadville, returning home for showers and laundry and three fun days of late April resort skiing at A-Basin and Loveland. With just two more days before Mark returned to Aspen, we skied some incredible spring objectives, ate lots of food, and enjoyed one another’s company.
